A former University of Illinois chancellor could soon be leaving campus for another school. Richard Herman's resignation as chancellor of the university's Urbana-Champaign campus took effect Monday.
Now, he's a finalist to become president of New Mexico State University.
Del Archuleta is on the presidential search committee. He says he's reviewed Herman's role in the admissions scandal that led to his resignation.
ARCHULETA: I'm sure he'll get a lot of questions on the campus by everyone, but he answered our questions very professionally and we were satisfied that he should be advanced.
Herman is now in the middle of a one-year sabbatical at the U of I. He had agreed to serve as a faculty member at the university after his resignation went through.
