The IOC has spoken, and Rio de Janeiro, not Chicago, will host the 2016 Olympics. We hear how you’re feeling about Chicago’s loss, or do you think it was a win for residents here in the city and in the region. To learn more about the social, political and economic reasons why we may have lost the bid, Eight Forty-Eight's Alison Cuddy was joined by a panel of experts.

Panel:
Andy Shaw— Executive Director, Better Government Association
Rod Shrader— Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Illinois at Chicago
Matthew Burbank—Author, Olympic Dreams: Impact of Mega Events on Local Politics
Tom Tresser—Founder, No Games Chicago
Graham Balkan—Spokesman for the Gropius in Chicago Coalition, leads The Save Michael Reese Campaign
Dennis Rodkin—Writer, Deal Estate Column in Chicago magazine
Joseph DiJohn—Director of the Metropolitan Transportation Support Initiative at the University of Illinois at Chicago
Stephen Asma—Professor of Philosophy and Distinguished Faculty Scholar at Columbia College Chicago

This is very disappointing--for Chicago, for the country, and for me. I was looking forward to staying with a dear friend there during the games. And also getting to meet all of the water polo teams.
