Chicago Matters: Beyond Burnham: The 21st Century Workforce
As part of our series Chicago Matters: Beyond Burnham, we look at the future of our region’s workforce. Chicago once served as a central hub for the Midwest's booming industrial base. The region was once known for manufacturing durable goods, including automobiles and heavy machinery.
We talk about future jobs revitalization in the Chicago region with Bill Strauss, Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Peter Nicholson, Executive Director of Foresight Design Initiative.
Also, in th UK over the last two decades, the number employed in manufacturing has declined by 25 percent. Discusing the UK’s plans to reindustrialize is Hopi Sen, a research consultant with the Warwick Manufacturing Group at Warwick University.
